Step 2 · Google Business Profile
What number do your customers call?
This is how we find your Google listing. We look it up by hand before your build starts, so you don't have to go digging.
If you don't have one, that's fine. We create and verify it for you.
Step 3 · Google access
Which email owns that Google listing?
We send a manager invite to that address today. It has to be accepted from the inbox, so it's worth getting right. This is the single most common thing that stalls a build.
Step 4 · Carrier registration
Every US carrier requires this before your number can text.
Sixty seconds, and we submit it today. This is the one screen that asks for a tax ID. It's what the carriers check your business against.
Exactly as it reads on your EIN letter. Often that's your trading name plus LLC or Inc., and for a sole proprietor it's frequently your own name. Carrier registration is rejected on a single mismatched character, so it's worth reading off the paperwork rather than memory.
Nine digits. Never your Social Security number. We don't accept one, and the carriers don't want it either.
Don't have an EIN?
Most sole proprietors don't. There are two ways forward and the difference is worth a minute.
Getting one takes about 10 minutes. The IRS issues an EIN online at irs.gov and shows you the number on screen straight away. It's free, and it's what most banks ask for when you open a business account.
Without one, you still get all of it. Texting from your business number, missed-call text-back, review requests, and your reactivation and referral campaigns. Promotional messages are allowed either way.
What's different: the carriers cap a business with no EIN at one campaign, one phone number, and about 1,000 messages a day to T-Mobile customers, roughly a third of US phones. Everything shares that pool: missed-call replies, review requests, and campaigns. A first campaign to a few hundred past customers fits comfortably. A bigger list gets paced over several days instead of going out at once.
The part that matters most: those limits are fixed. Businesses registered with an EIN earn higher limits as they build a track record. Businesses without one never do. You can switch later, but it means registering again and waiting on another carrier review.
Either way, we text a verification code to your personal mobile. It can't be a VoIP or app-based number, so not your office line.
Step 5 · Your business line
Who's your phone service through?
This tells us on day one whether your number can be text-enabled at all, or whether it's a landline that needs hosted messaging. Finding that out on day five costs a week.
Not sure is a perfectly good answer. We run the lookup either way.
Step 6 · Your web address
Do you have a website domain?
Whatever the answer, we handle it today. You don't need to know any of the technical parts.
These are built from your business name and city. We check availability before registering. If one's taken we'll come back with the closest thing.
Step 7 · What you do
What do you do?
Pick your trade and we'll load the usual service list. Uncheck anything you don't do.
This decides which services get their own page and rank first. It's the most valuable answer on this screen.
Step 8 · Your patch
How far do you travel?
Measured from your address. This builds the local pages you rank on.
These get their own pages first.
Step 9 · Last one
Two quick confirmations.
Plain English on purpose, and both are short. They're what let us text your customers on your behalf.
We'll date this and keep a copy with your file. You can ask us for it any time.
